Committee for the Assessment test of initial prerequisite knowledge and OFA test

After completing the online enrollment procedure and paying the first installment of tuition fees, students must log in to the portal www.esse3.unimore.it, select "Student Area," and then "Access the Enrolled Students Questionnaire Almalaurea."

Students will be prompted to register on the Almalaurea website in order to complete the questionnaire.

Failure to complete the questionnaire will prevent enrollment in exam sessions.

For the academic year 2024/2025, the Department of Communication and Economics plans to exclusively grant access to the Bachelor's Degree programme in Digital Marketing through the TOLC-E test.

For further details regarding the TOLC test, please refer to the CISIA website.

For the academic year 2024/2025, those enrolling in the following open-access degree programmes

  • Data Analysis for Business and Finance
  • Marketing and Business Organisation
  • Communication Sciences

will have to take the test to assess the initial knowledge required.

The current regulatory framework (Art. 6, Requirements for admission to study courses, paragraph 1, DM 270/2004) requires all students starting a first-level degree course to possess or acquire adequate initial preparation. In line with this legislation, the assessment test is designed to check the level of initial knowledge required for a successful course of study.

The test is not selective and takes place once enrolled

If the test is not passed, an Additional Training Obligation (OFA) is assigned, to be completed within the first year of the course, according to the instructions published in the section "OFA (Additional Training Obligations)" on this page.

The essential initial knowledge assessment test is based on the contents indicated in the dedicated Syllabus, available at the bottom of this section.

The dates on which the test will be taken are as follows

  • Wednesday 11 September 2024, 2 p.m., lab 1012
  • Monday 16 September 2024, 10 a.m., lab 13
  • Monday, 23 September 2024, 10 a.m., lab 13
  • Friday, 27 September 2024, 10 a.m., lab 1012
  • Monday 30 September 2024, 10 a.m., lab 13
  • Monday 14 October 2024, 10 a.m., lab 13
  • Wednesday 30 October 2024, 2 p.m., lab 13
  • Monday 4 November 2024, 2 p.m., lab 1012

To register for the test, you must book on the dedicated Moodle page.

Students enrolling in the first year of the Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Business Organization, Digital Marketing, and Data Analytics for Business and Finance, who have taken the TOLC-E test and scored less than 7 in the Mathematics section or have failed the assessment test of the initial knowledge required, are assigned an Additional Training Obligation (OFA), which must be fulfilled by September 30, 2025.

Students enrolled in the first year of the Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences, who have taken the TOLC-SU test and scored less than 15 points in the Text Comprehension and Italian Language Knowledge sections or have failed the assessment test of the initial knowledge required, will be assigned an Additional Training Obligation (OFA) to be fulfilled by September 30, 2025.

What is the test about?

For students enrolled in the first year of Communication Sciences (D.M. 270), the test aims to assess knowledge related to general culture and the Italian language.

For students enrolled in the first year of Marketing and Business Organization, Digital Marketing, and Data Analytics for Business and Finance (D.M. 270), the content of the test aims to assess knowledge related to mathematics.

How does the test work?

The test consists of an online assessment with thirty multiple-choice questions. The test takes 30 minutes to complete. The get a pass, you must answer at least 60% of the questions correctly.

You will need to bring a valid form of identification and your Unimore credentials.

Where will the test take place?

The test will be held in the department’s computer lab (D2.7a+b+c, lab 13 - 2nd floor, Palazzo Dossetti). Access to the lab will be in the order of registration on Esse3.

How do you register for the test?

In order to take the test, you must register through the Esse3 system - www.esse3.unimore.it >> Exam Calls >> search string "Search calls" >> Additional educational obligations -, after you have enrolled in the Bachelor's Degree program. The test dates are available one week before the test date, and the registration is open until two days before the test.

What are the test dates?

  • Friday 13 September 2024, 10 a.m. (also valid for students enrolled for the academic year 2023/2024)
  • Wednesday 25 September 2024, 2.00 p.m. (also valid for students enrolled for the academic year 2023/2024)
  • Wednesday 9 October 2024, 2.00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 23 October 2024, 2.00 p.m.
  • Thursday 14 November 2024, 10.00 a.m.
  • Monday 16 December 2024, 10.00 a.m.
  • Thursday 23 January 2025, 2.00 p.m.
  • Friday 30 May 2025, 2.00 p.m.
  • Tuesday 15 July 2025, 10.00 a.m. (this date also includes an oral test exclusively for those who graduated abroad). 

CAUTION: If you decide NOT to take the test for which you have already registered, you must CANCEL the reservation you have made! This will free up the place for  someone else.

The test result will be uploaded to Esse3 later.

Those who do not pass the test by the specified dates will automatically be re-enrolled in the first year!
