Bachelor's Degree in Data Analysis for Business and Finance (ADIF)

In the academic year 2025/2026, the degree course has open admission. To enrol, applicants must hold an upper secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad, recognised as valid in accordance with current regulations.

In accordance with Ministerial Decree 270/04, the Department of Communication and Economics is required to verify that students possess an adequate level of initial preparation at the time of enrolment.

This assessment of prior knowledge is not a prerequisite for enrolment, as the degree course has open admission. However, it is legally mandatory for all undergraduate degree programmes and must therefore be completed by the student within the deadlines indicated below.

Failure to undergo the initial knowledge assessment, or receiving an unsatisfactory result, does not prevent enrolment. However, if any Additional Learning Requirements (Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi – OFA) are not fulfilled by the end of the first academic year, students will not be permitted to enrol in the second year of the course. Instead, they will have to re-enrol as repeating students in the first year.

For the academic year 2025/2026, the initial knowledge assessment is considered successfully completed in one of the following two cases:

• A final secondary school leaving mark of 85/100 or higher (or 51/60 for those who completed their secondary education under the former system). These students are deemed to possess adequate initial knowledge and will not be required to take any further assessment, as their school leaving mark will be recorded at the time of enrolment.
• Successful completion of the CISIA Online Test in Economics (TOLC-E) with a score of 14 or higher (excluding the English language section). The TOLC-E is administered by CISIA (the Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems). TOLC-E results are valid regardless of whether the test was taken at a university (tolc@uni) or remotely (tolc@casa), and regardless of the institution where it was taken.

All students who do not meet either of the above criteria may still enrol, but they will be assigned an Additional Learning Requirement (OFA), which must be fulfilled by 30 September of the first academic year.

For the academic year 2024/2025, those enrolling in the Degree Course in Data Analysis for Business and Finance will be required to take the assessment test of initial prerequisite knowledge.

The test is not selective and takes place once enrolled.

If the test is not passed, an Additional Training Obligation (OFA) is assigned, to be completed within the first year of the course, according to the instructions published in the paragraph ‘OFA - Additional Training Obligations’, found on the ‘Test and Registration’ page of this site, linked below.

Students enrolled in the academic year 2025/2026
At the time of enrolment, students who meet one or more of the following conditions:

• have obtained a secondary school leaving mark lower than 85/100 (or 51/60 for those who completed their secondary education under the former system);
• have taken the TOLC-E test and obtained a score below 14 (excluding the English language section);
• have not taken the TOLC-E test;

will be assigned an Additional Learning Requirement (OFA), which must be fulfilled by September of the first year of the programme (for students enrolling in the academic year 2025/2026, by 30 September 2026).

Students assigned an OFA may fulfil it by:

• passing the TOLC-E test with a score of 14 or higher (excluding the English language section). The test must be taken and passed by 30 September 2026;
• passing the General Mathematics exam (MATEMATICA GENERALE) by the September 2026 exam session (first autumn session).

IMPORTANT: Please note that students who have not fulfilled the OFA requirement by the end of the first academic year will not be allowed to enrol in the second year and will be required to re-enrol in the first year as repeating students.

Students enrolled in the academic year 2024/2025
Students enrolling in the first year will be assigned an OFA (Additional Training Obligation), which must be completed by September 30, 2025.

However, students that have taken the TOLC-E before or after enrollment, but by 2024, and achieved a score of 7 or higher in the Mathematics section, will be considered to have fulfilled the requirement.  

Those who took the TOLC-E and scored less than 7 in the Mathematics section will be assigned an OFA, which must be fulfilled by September 30, 2025.

Students enrolled in the academic year 2023/2024
Students enrolling in the first year will be assigned an OFA (Additional Training Obligation), which must be completed by September 30, 2024.

However, students that have taken the TOLC-E before or after enrollment, but by 2023, and have achieved a score of 7 or higher in the Mathematics section, twill be considered to have fulfilled the requirement. 

Those who have taken the TOLC-E and score less than 7 in the Mathematics section, will be assigned an OFA. This must be fulfilled by September 30, 2024.

The TOLC-E (CISIA Online Test for Economics Degree Courses) is a digital tool designed to assess the initial skills and knowledge of students who wish to enrol in university programmes in the fields of economics and management.

The test is divided into four distinct sections, each aimed at evaluating specific competencies:

• the Logic section;
• the Verbal Comprehension section;
• the Mathematics section;
• the English Language section.

PLEASE NOTE: For admission to the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Data Analysis for Business and Finance, the English Language section is not included in the minimum score requirement of 14 points used to verify an adequate level of initial preparation.

The following sections contribute to the score used to assess suitability for admission to the Bachelor's Degree in Data Analysis for Business and Finance:

• the Logic section (30 minutes), consisting of 13 multiple-choice questions, aimed at assessing analytical and critical reasoning skills;
• the Verbal Comprehension section (30 minutes), consisting of 10 multiple-choice questions, designed to evaluate the ability to understand and analyse written texts;
• the Mathematics section (30 minutes), comprising 13 multiple-choice questions, aimed at assessing basic mathematical skills and the ability to solve quantitative problems.

Each question has five possible answers, only one of which is correct. The TOLC-E score is calculated as follows:

• 1 point for each correct answer;
• 0 points for unanswered questions;
• –0.25 points for each incorrect answer.

To pass the test for the purposes of enrolment in the Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analysis for Business and Finance, and confirm adequate preparation, a minimum score of 14 points is required, excluding the English Language section.

The test is delivered online via a dedicated digital platform managed and monitored by CISIA, or in person at authorised and suitably equipped university venues.

How the test is taken
The test will be held online in the TOLC@CASA format. To take the test, students must have a stable internet connection and a laptop computer.
