The Department of Communication and Economics identifies innovation in content and methods, the interdisciplinary nature of research, education, and the third mission, as the core values for generating, sharing, and transferring new knowledge. 

These values shape the department’s efforts to participate in the education of new generations, in the scientific debate and in collaborations with the economic, political and social environment, while promoting a culture of inclusion and sustainable development.

With this vision, the department identifies the following missions

  • Steering the design and delivery of high-quality training, and to offer innovative, inclusive and accessible educational pathways, designed in consultation with key external stakeholders, in order to define the professional figures of the future, capable of effectively interfacing with the needs of the world of work
  • Defining strategic lines of interdisciplinary research, in order to nurture productivity levels in line with or above the national average, and high international publishing standards for the publications by department members, on the basis of a fair distribution of human and financial resources, consistent with concerted and shared growth objectives 
  • Designing  and implementing third mission activities,in foster and reinforce relations with external stakeholders through applied research, continuing education and public engagement activities, and to contribute to the sustainable development of society and to social innovation.
